Clinton College has hired Mrs. Mary Knox as the new Director of Performing Arts. Mrs. Knox joins the Clinton College family from the 69 County School District, where she served as the Instructional Specialist of Visual and Performing Arts. Prior to her time in 69, she was the choral director for Indian Land High School, where she taught various choirs, piano, guitar, and dance classes. After seven years in the classroom, she was selected as District Teacher of the Year for the 69 County School District (2018-2019).

Clinton College has officially been reaffirmed for the next ten years by our accrediting agency, the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), with no recommendations, findings, or suggestions. Clinton’s evaluation visit took place from January 24th-January 26th, 2023, and concluded with a notification of reaffirmation during a virtual meeting yesterday, April 25th.

It was almost akin to watching a grainy black and white video of 1950s-era white legislators and law enforcement in the Jim Crow South refusing to allow Black people to have equal rights as citizens under the law, choosing to politically (and literally) assassinate anyone who dared to challenge their right to do so. Except this time, we viewed in real-time on 21st century high-definition television a super majority in the Tennessee state assembly choosing to hold a modern-day Kangaroo court to order the crucifixion of democracy.

Students attending historically Black colleges and universities and other minority-serving institutions can take a wider variety of courses — and stay on track to graduate — through an innovative new partnership. The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) today announced its HBCU-MSI Course-Sharing Consortium, a collaboration designed to help HBCUs and MSIs enable students to stay on their pathway to on-time graduation. The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) awarded $7 million for workforce development and training supporting plutonium pit production to minority-serving educational institutions in New Mexico and South Carolina. Many of us vividly remember where we were when we received the news and watched the images of the twin towers of the World Trade Center of New York City consumed with fire and smoke. Those images of mass destruction, the crash in Pennsylvania along with the damage to the Pentagon in D.C., remind us of the fragility of human existence and the tragedy of hatred. Remote learning to continue for spring semester

Since the start of the semester, the administration has closely monitored the public health conditions locally and nationally. A COVID-19 Task Force has been working diligently to put appropriate protocols in place in anticipation of a full return to campus in the spring. We have observed the lessons being learned on other college campuses across the country; the results have been mixed. We have concluded that there are too many barriers to operating in person in a completely safe and effective manner next semester. Therefore, we will continue in remote learning for the spring semester.

New Millennium Café is a Hit With Students

Clinton College’s newly renovated dining hall, New Millennium Café, has been the center of delicious food and fellowship among students, faculty, and staff since the Fall semester began. The New Millennium Café was revealed just a few weeks ago and students have enjoyed the modern dining experience that boasts a menu that includes homestyle entrees, made-to-order deli sandwiches, oven-baked pizza, and a fresh salad bar.

On Tuesday, several members from the Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated presented a check of $769.84 to Clinton College – the only historically black college in York County.
